Winter Bulletin Board Ideas To Make Your Classroom Sparkle

There is no better time to decorate and bring a little extra sparkle to your classroom than during the winter season! Winter is one of the best seasons to decorate your classroom because there are so many options of themes you can run with. Sharing classroom bulletin boards is my favorite. Make yourself a cup of hot cocoa, relax, and get inspired by some of my favorite winter bulletin board ideas for your classroom! Keep your eyes open for a few freebies in this blog post!

Inclusive Winter Bulletin Board Ideas

Making your classroom inclusive and welcoming is extremely important. Before decorating your classroom for any holiday, I recommend gathering information about the holidays your students do and do not celebrate. Use this information to guide your decorating to promote a positive environment for all students.

An inclusive bulletin board option is to decorate using a “holidays around the world” theme on your display. A multicultural holiday-themed display is a great idea! It is informative and promotes the exploration of different cultures. Including traditions and visuals on your bulletin board may be helpful for little learners. Support your students’ knowledge and understanding of holidays celebrated in different cultures by reading books, performing research, or listening to others share their experiences within your community. This creates opportunities to incorporate multicultural education and foster inclusivity at school.

Another inclusive winter bulletin board idea is to decorate using a multilingual approach. I love this bulletin board, which says “Happy Holidays” in 24 languages! Finish off your bulletin board using a banner of international flags. This is a creative way to engage children in learning all the different ways to wish each other a happy holiday season.

Winter Wonderland Themed Bulletin Boards

A Winter Wonderland bulletin board is a fun way to decorate for the season! Opting to use a winter bulletin board kit to decorate your classroom means you can leave your decor up for a few months. Keep your bulletin board up from December through February, or even March! Turn your classroom into a winter scene from a snow globe with this Winter Bulletin Board and Festive Student Activities. This bulletin board kit is a teacher favorite because it is packed with valuable resources to decorate your classroom!

Enjoy a sweet little winter village, evergreen trees, and a starry sky. This adorable winter bulletin board idea is not holiday-specific or religious – it’s incredibly versatile! Change the bulletin board lettering to spice up your classroom decor throughout the winter months. Choose from three different sayings, “Learning in Wonderland”, “Cozy Winter Vibes”, and “Learning is Snow Much Fun!”. Select decorative accents from the 20 bulletin borders and 20 bulletin banners to finish off your winter wonderland bulletin board

A great resource within this bulletin board kit is the student activity. Enjoy a few differentiated writing activities to pair with your bulletin board or add to your winter writing center. Teaching ideas and prompts are included in your download, but you can even create your own winter writing prompts and use the activity for other school subjects such as social studies and English language arts.

Christmas Bulletin Boards

I love decorating with festive bulletin boards during the winter months to add a little Christmas cheer to the classroom. These two Christmas bulletin boards are favorites and have retro-nostalgic vibes.

The perfect Christmas accent to any bulletin board is Santa Claus! This bulletin board features a retro Santa Claus (in two skin colors), presents, and disco ball ornaments. Personalize your bulletin board with printable bulletin borders and banners. Add your students’ names to the included name decal and place them on your bulletin board. Take your pick of the three different sayings! This bulletin board is a great way to incorporate Santa Claus into your classroom this season if your students celebrate Christmas.

My absolute favorite holiday bulletin board display is this one with the retro Christmas tree characters dancing together. The bulletin board lettering says, “Friends are the Perfect Gift”. Other sayings include “Merry Christmas”, and “Tis the Season”. Students have a blast using the included writing activities to express gratitude for their friends and loved ones. The bulletin board and activity are perfect reminders of what is truly important around the holidays. Use the student activities as a whole class activity or as independent work before the holiday break. This cute winter bulletin board is unique and always a crowd-pleaser.

Consider using a poster display, like this one, as a bulletin board decoration option. Poster displays are one of my favorite ways to decorate in the classroom because you can fill a large space in no time!

New Year Themed Bulletin Boards

Returning from winter break to a new year with a new bulletin board is the BEST feeling! New Year themed bulletin boards are such a fun and fresh way to decorate for January. This goal-oriented bulletin board is motivating for students and staff members.

Learners have so much fun sharing their goals for the new year using the included writing activities. Pro Tip: Add your students’ faces to the writing activities for a sweet personalized touch!

If you’re looking for a quick and easy January bulletin board, opt for some new year posters! This poster display comes with 12 premade posters and editable templates. Add one of the printable borders for some flair. Don’t forget the accent banner to finish off the look. I’m excited to share this winter classroom bulletin board freebie with you! Enjoy two New Year-themed classroom posters to add to your display!

Religious Christmas Bulletin Boards

If you teach at a Christian parochial school, you’ll want to incorporate the nativity into your bulletin board display. It is the perfect way to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in your classroom and a reminder that Jesus is the reason for the season! This nativity bulletin board display is the sweetest and comes with three sayings: “Joy to the World”, “Come Let Us Adore Him”, and “Jesus is the Reason for the Season”. Decorate with baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and animals. Add some stars to your night sky and the accent banner for additional sparkle. Scripture, lesson ideas, prompts, and writing activities are all included in this bulletin board kit! The activities can be used for any writing prompt, but teachers love using them as Christmas cards for school staff members!

Bulletin Boards to Support Socal Emotional Learning

The holiday season presents many unique teaching opportunities in the classroom. Often, we focus on tangible gifts we are giving and hoping to receive during the holidays. This Season of Giving bulletin board is the perfect way to celebrate non-material blessings. For this bulletin board and activity, students will decorate a gift box. Then, they will write about the “gifts”  they can give to others during the holiday season. These gifts do not cost money but are things like musical talent, kindness, patience, and friendship. This social emotional lesson and bulletin board fosters gratitude, self-reflection, and introspection.

This free interactive “Overcoming Challenges” bulletin board is perfect if the students in your classroom have many winter celebrations. This social emotional learning focused activity is not religious or holiday specific. You can download it here.

In this fun activity, students will discuss and write about overcoming challenges. They will then color and cut out their mountain. Staple the mountain on top of the child’s writing. These beautiful mountainscapes create a great bulletin board. It is empowering for the students to share and learn about overcoming obstacles. This activity can be used any time of year, but the mountain visual and metaphor fit perfectly with any winter theme.
