February Bulletin Board Ideas For Valentine’s Day

The month of February is the perfect time to decorate your classroom for Valentine’s Day! I’m excited to share some fun bulletin board ideas that are student-focused and will make your classroom beautiful in no time! February brings many opportunities to incorporate fun themes into your bulletin board displays. February’s best bulletin board ideas include the themes of kindness, love, and friendship!  This blog post features simple DIY displays, interactive student work displays, and beautifully crafted bulletin board kits. Also, keep an eye open for a few special kindness-themed free resources to utilize in your classroom!

Quick and Easy Decorations

It’s no secret that I LOVE decorating for the holidays, but decorations are even better when they are easy to put up and look amazing! Poster displays are the perfect way to decorate a large space in minutes. There is no need to do any special cutting, simply print, laminate (if you wish), and hang up on your classroom board. All you need is a Valentine’s Day or kindness-themed poster pack for this easy bulletin board idea.

One of my favorite poster packs is this Puppy Love Pack. This pack of 12 kindness-themed posters makes a sweet display for any grade level. Enjoy a positive message on each poster and adorable puppy clipart throughout! Also, you’ll receive fun extras like printable bulletin borders and a banner to decorate your bulletin board or other areas of your classroom! Pro Tip: Posters are also a cute way to decorate your classroom door. Hang several posters together and create a trendy collage. This is both inviting and fun! Poster packs are also perfect for easy Valentine’s Day party decor! Download two free posters from the Puppy Love collection by clicking here!

If you’re seeking to incorporate a retro vibe, you may like this retro-themed Valentine’s Day poster kit. Included are 12 posters with retro graphics and sayings. Also, enjoy retro patterned printable bulletin borders and a colorful hearts banner. As a sweet and personalized touch, add your students’ names to each one of the colorful candy hearts. This display is unique and a breeze to put together.

Sweet Themed Bulletin Board

February is a great month to bring out all the sweet-themed decorations! This Sweet Valentine’s Day Bulletin Board is full of Valentine’s Day classroom bulletin board ideas. Use the included cupcakes, candy, and cups of hot cocoa to decorate your classroom. Create a simple bulletin board using the bulletin board letters and artwork, or add special details like an accent banner, bulletin borders, and student names. Choose from three bulletin board sayings to promote a message of love and friendship. Encourage students to participate and have them decorate the included cupcake creative writing activity. First, choose from several prompts and February activities outlined in this resource. Then, prepare for your students to write the sweetest things about their learning and school experience. These crafts also make super sweet classroom door decor and create a cohesive classroom look.

Puppy Love Bulletin Board

This Puppy Love Display is a cute February bulletin board idea for Kindness Month! This kit comes with many different bulletin board designs, my favorite saying is “Better Together”! This board is a fun way to decorate and you can choose from many different puppies to decorate your bulletin board with! Also, enjoy little heart banners, three sayings, puppy decals to add student names, bulletin borders + banners, and more!

Did I mention this February classroom display also comes with puppy love student activities? They are such a fun way to have students write kind things about one another. When they are finished, display their work on your bulletin board! Give each child another student’s name. They will write a “love letter” to their friend. This letter can be a kind letter stating all the things they love about that classmate. This puppy love bulletin board display is a fun and multipurpose item to promote kindness during February!

Retro Valentine’s Day Bulletin Board

Now, if you’re a retro lover you may want to opt for a nostalgic bulletin board for February. This music-themed retro bulletin board is a great way to bring all the vintage vibes to your classroom. Included in this bulletin board set are three different sayings, “You make my heart sing”, “Self-Love Club”, and “All You Need is Love”.  There are many elements in this kit, to use throughout your classroom such as printable borders, banners, little hearts student name decals, and more! Use this set to create a single classroom bulletin board or several bulletin board displays!

Students have a great time completing and displaying the included self-love activity on the bulletin board. This is a great activity to complete after discussing the personal strengths and positive qualities students see in themselves and each other. This exploratory activity is a great time to build classroom community. Sometimes students have a tricky time labeling their own strengths and positive qualities. As a class, your students can support one another to do this while pointing out the good qualities they see in their classmates. Many kind conversations can be experienced by completing this activity. This retro kit is a good bulletin board for promoting self-love, community, and positive self-talk in your classroom environment.

Cup of Kindness – FREEBIE

When I taught 2nd grade, my students loved doing the activity “A Cup of Kindness” and it makes the cutest bulletin board display (I have a freebie for you)! This activity teaches the importance of filling up other peoples’ “cups” with kindness. For this activity, students will color their cups and on each marshmallow, they will write one way they filled up someone’s cup with kindness. Examples of filling up someone’s cup could be complimenting someone, helping someone, or doing a kind act of service.

This is such a cute idea and it’s a great way to encourage more kindness in your classroom community. Putting the cups on display after your students are done is a visual reminder of the kindness your students have demonstrated toward one another. This activity would be perfect for Random Acts of Kindness Day and you could display them on your classroom bulletin board. I’m excited to share this FREE cup of kindness resource with you! Click here to grab this freebie. This freebie comes with lesson plans and more ideas to use in your classroom. Please note: this freebie is black and white; so it can be printed on construction paper or astrobright paper of any color!

A great idea to make this bulletin board more interactive is to leave a basket with extra copies of the activity. This way, if a student or staff member stops to read your students’ work on the hallway bulletin board, they can pick up a cup of kindness to complete. This activity encourages participation beyond your classroom. Then the bulletin board display will be inclusive of your whole school community. As a bonus, it is a great winter bulletin board idea, because you can leave the hot cocoa cups on your board for a few months without worrying about changing your bulletin board.

DIY Bulletin Boards

Sweethearts DIY Bulletin Board

I love a good DIY bulletin board display! It is a low-cost way to transform your space! The first DIY Valentine’s Day themed bulletin board display is a “Our Class is Full of Sweethearts” bulletin board. For this bulletin board, you’ll have the phrase in the middle of the display and add your student names around it. You can cut out hearts from scrapbook paper, or print out conversation hearts. Add a student name to each heart and put it on your display. This is an inclusive way to sprinkle in some valentine vibes. This display can even be used as February door decor, so your students will be greeted by this positive display each time they enter the classroom.

Reading DIY Bulletin Board

The final bulletin board display is a DIY “Love of Literacy” reading-themed display! This board is a great way to highlight a love for literacy. To complete this DIY, you’ll need red, pink, purple, and white construction paper. You may also wish to put background paper on your bulletin board, consider using a purple or red background to make it festive. First, cut hearts using construction paper and create your sign. Your sign may say something like, “We Love Reading”, “We Have a Love for Literacy”, or “Lovers of Literature”. Next, give each student their own heart. Then, inside the heart, they will write a few sentences about a great book they read recently, or their favorite book.

This DIY English Language Arts bulletin board kit would also be perfect for family reading night. Families love having a little something to do with their child, during school events. This classroom DIY is the perfect literacy night writing activity for students and families to complete together. They may add it to the classroom bulletin board display and have fun reading about other’s favorite books. This interactive display is a wonderful way to learn about your students’ interests and discover new books. The next time one of your students comes up to you looking for a good book, you can direct them to the interactive board to gather ideas!
